Steinbeck First Edition:

"East of Eden" is widely regarded as John Steinbeck's magnum opus. The author himself considered the novel his crowning achievement, saying everything he had written prior was essentially "practice". This first edition, copyright 1952, features the original dust jacket - unclipped - and features a photo of Steinbeck on the back panel. $4.50 retail price on front flap. On page 182 is the famous proofreading error where the word "bight' was mistakenly printed as "bite". The dust jacket shows some signs of wear but is intact. The spine and boards are in fine condition. All internal pages are clean and unmarked.
